We recognize the deep impact that the childcare crisis has on our community as a whole, and how it disproportionately affects women. After having to close our childcare center, we knew that we needed to shift our focus to policy advocacy and take the lead to support women and families in our community. We support legislative actions that make quality child care affordable.

  • This bill was introduced by Sen. Grant Hauschild (Hermantown) and proposes a Great Start Affordability Scholarship Program that would provide childcare scholarships to families making under $175,000. It would allow families not to pay more than 7% of their income for childcare.

  • In 2011, the Department of Homeland Security created the Sensitive Locations policy (aka Protected Areas policy) to deter immigration enforcement actions in places that provided essential services for people’s well-being. This policy was reinforced in 2021 only to be rescinded on January 20, 2025.

One part of our mission is to empower women — and what better way than to keep you informed on policies directly affecting us. Our fight for equality is far from over but together, we can raise our voices to be heard and speak for those who cannot.

  • The SAVE Act has been reintroduced which would require that our IDs match our birth certificates in order to vote. This bill creates barriers for trans folks and married people (predominantly women) that have changed their names. Supporters of the bill say that each state would develop a process to prove citizenship for those that have changed their names, but it's unclear language and there's concern of no additional funding to support that process.

  • Women are still making between $0.57-0.81 per every $1 men make in the state of MN. Equal pay has never been more important and we are here to fight for it! We’ve signed and endorsed the Paycheck Fairness Act which will be reintroduced on March 25, 2025.
